Wa All Stars pip Kessben 1 – 0

Wa All Stars on Sunday made sure they convinced their numerous supporters that they have come to stay in the Premiership and to be among the top clubs in Ghana's football cycles when they added visiting Kessben from Kumasi to their defeat list and pipped them by a lone goal in their One touch Premier League march played at the Wa Sports Stadium. The Wa lads who were determined to carry the day, started the game on a fast note with accurate passes but were held at bay with any threatening move into the Kessben's goal area. Centre forward Daniel Bonfah and outside left Issah Salifu who benefited from most of the chances that the homesters created, however, wasted all of them to the chagrin of the partisan supporters. The strikers either shot feebly and straight into the hands of keeper Mohammed Alhassan of Kessben or misdirected the ball outside the goal posts. Back from the recess, the home team raised the tempo of the game and succeeded in scoring the only goal of the march in the 59th minute during a goal-mouth melee in the area of Kessben. All Stars attacker Adusei Opoku who profited from the confusion, ensured he kicked the ball into the net, which was considered to have crossed the goal line before an attacker of Kessben cleared it out of danger. Referee Thomas Nunoo from Accra who was right on the spot whistled for a goal but players of Kessben protested against the goal, saying the ball never crossed the goal line before it was cleared. The confusion brought proceedings to a halt for about 15 minutes before understanding prevailed for the game to resume. Kessben from thereon took up the challenge and started to outwit the All Stars lads with long and accurate passes with Mpong and Douglas Nkrumah using the wings effectively but good work from stalwart defender, Godfred Yeboah thwarted their efforts at goal to bring the exciting game to an end.
