Modern Automobile Services (MAS), sole distributors of Foton vehicles in the country has pledged its support to the nation’s participation at the forthcoming Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.The automobile dealers on Thursday presented a cheque for 5000 Ghana Cedis and a motorcycle worth 960 Ghana Cedis to the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) as their contribution towards the campaign.Alhaji Abdul Samad Musah, Acting Managing Director of MAS who made the presentation acknowledged the importance of the Olympic Games, hence the need for corporate bodies to support it.He expressed confidence that the presentation will strengthen the nation’s quest for a positive performance at the 29th Olympiad.Ms Elizabeth King, Executive Member of the GOC who received the donation commended MAS for their king gesture while calling on other corporate bodies to emulate such a feat.She added that donations and various presentations will boost the confidence of the athletes to lift high the flag of Ghana during the Games.Ms King who doubles as a member of the Sponsorship Committee of the GOC expressed optimism in Team Ghana, which consists of boxers as well as field and track athletes.Ghana will compete in boxing and athletics at the Games which commences on August 8.Source: GNA
