Visiting Kpando Heart of Lions on Sunday ‘scattered’ Real Tamale United (RTU) at the latter’s favourite home grounds with a humbling 4:0 defeat in their outstanding Onetouch Premier League encounter. It is RTU’s most humiliating defeat at home since joining the premiership in 1976 and it was no surprise when after the game some of the supporters openly registered their displeasure at the management team of the club. Real Tamale United started the match with much enthusiasm and created some beautiful scoring chances in the first ten minutes of the game and won seven corner-kicks within the same period but could not utilise any. Their output gave a false hope to the teeming fans that RTU was in to win the match but their dominance was short-lived as the visitors' first chance at goal in the 21st minute silenced the almost empty stadium when Edward Owusu Ansah shot from about 20 metres to open the scoring. The supporters were still hopeful that RTU could come from behind to win the day, but a second goal in the 31st minute by Osei Banahene scuttled the hopes. The well-composed Lions players played confidently and received applause from the spectators, uncharacteristic of fans in Tamale. There was some hope written in the faces of the supporters, fans and management of the home team for either a draw but Dominic Adiya buried all hopes for the home side when he increased his side's goal tally to three in the 52nd minute. The third goal seemed to demoralize the RTU lads and from then they could no longer find their rhythm as they resorted to faulty passes and also finding it difficult to cross the centre line into their opponents' goal area. A defensive blunder in the 76th minute gifted the visitors the fourth goal when in an attempt to clear the ball a defender lost it to Banahene who made no mistake in beating goalkeeper Charles Kipo to score his personal second goal and the fourth goal for his side. RTU used various means to redeem at least a goal but all was in vain before Class One Referee Charles Tagoe from Berekum whistled to bring proceedings to an end. Source: GNA
