The man who butchered his brother to death and ate his forelimbs at Guagilia in the Northern Region will be charged next week for murder.Osman Amadu killed his brother, cut his arms for super and buried the remaining parts of the body together with the weapon he used for the dastardly act.The incident was sparked by a confrontation between the two on the family farm over missing seeds.Amadu told the police he killed the brother because he was disturbing him.The sinister murderer explained he ate the body parts to prevent the spirit of the deceased from haunting him.The Northern Regional Police Public Affairs Director, Inspector Albert Johnson told Joy News that the accused sounded mental stable.He said Amadu did not show any remorse for the crime.According to him investigations by the police indicated the accused had a history of violent behaviour.He said the villagers were however in a state of shock because they did not believe Amadu’s intemperate behaviour could take him to such lengths.Speaking on the issue, a psychiatrist at the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Ghana Medical School, Dr. Sammy Ohene said although such things do occur such a horrid story of human barbarity rarely occured.He said such acts were perpetrated by people who were deluded and had a false belief that they were being persecuted.He said the eating of the body parts with the belief that it would prevent the spirit of the victim from haunting the accused could be a function of the belief system of the people.Story by Malik Abass Daabu
