It has emerged from the Guabulga village near Walewale in the Northern Region that the man who murdered and ate the flesh of his elder brother, has been a long-standing wee smoker.Amadu Osman, 25, killed his brother last Saturday and cooked part of his flesh for consumption.A close relative of the suspect told Daily Guide when the paper visited the village for a follow-up on the barbaric incident that it was likely that the uncanny action of the suspect was influenced by marijuana which he has for long been hooked to.Residents of the village also revealed that Amadu Osman, 25, the suspect, has been behaving rather strangely in recent times and many thought he was on the verge of getting mad, until his action of a few days ago - although there are no medical records to support the claims. One source had it that the suspect could not have committed the crime deliberately, adding that it was probably prompted by a curse. He prayed that the gods of the land spare the inhabitants of the village for what he considered an abominable action. The entire Guabulga community has been thrown into a state of shock following the gruesome murder - a situation which has been aggravated by the massive publicity it generated countrywide. The suspect made the headlines after murdering his elder brother, Alhassan Osman on their farm and going ahead to cut his arm and manhood. The suspect told the Police that his action was triggered by the deceased’s destruction of traps he had set up on their farm to catch rodents and the stealing of his maize and millet seeds.
After Amadu had hit the head and back of his brother with a hoe several times, the deceased dropped to the ground, whereupon the suspect amputated his arm, fearing that his brother could regain consciousness and attack him. The suspect also told the police that the deceased had threatened to call up support from the village to come to his aid. Perhaps what stunned the inhabitants of the village most was Amadu’s eating of the flesh of his elder brother. At the time of his arrest the arm on which he was feeding and the manhood were in his pockets. The suspect, who took cover in a nearby village where he sought farm work to raise funds to flee to Techiman, was nabbed by a search party of youth from his village. The suspect was saved from being lynched by the timely appearance of a Police team. The suspect took the team and the youth to the site where he buried the decapitated remains of his brother and the hoe he used in the murder. The remains had been buried under a heap of rocks and leaves.Source: Daily Guide
