A circuit court in Cape Coast on Tuesday remanded Yaw Boabeng, a 30-year-old farmer, for allegedly stealing, and assaulting a Muslim while he was praying.
Boabeng pleaded not guilty and he is to re-appear on June 24.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu that on December 8 last year Mr Alhassan Mensah, a businessman, went to Assin Wurakese to buy some rubber.
He said at about 1330 hours he decided to say his prayers after he had finished transacting his business and asked for a place to pray and he was given a room in a house.
While he was praying the accused entered the room, gave him a heavy slap from behind and hit him with a kitchen stool until he became weak.
Boabeng made away with GH¢ 100, a wrist watch, a pair of spectacles, a knife and a Muslim’s cap.
