Two employees of the Kumi Timbers Company, Charles Addai, 65, Bush Manager and Malam Iddrisu, 68, a caterpillar driver were at the weekend crushed to death by a timber truck at Nagoli, near Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The timber truck with registration number UR 940 C, loaded with logs was ascending a hill between Nagoli and Otaakrom and suddenly descended backwards and crashed into a Kia truck with Registration number AS 6715 X which was following it and killed the two on board.
Sergeant Stephen Darko of the Nyinahin Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the police who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the weekend said the accident occurred on Saturday at about 5.30 p.m.
He said after the incident the two drivers of both the timber truck and the Kia truck absconded and left the deceased behind without even making a formal report to the police.
The police officer explained that the bodies of the two deceased persons have been deposited at the Bibiani Government Hospital morgue for autopsy.
He said the police have therefore intensified their search for the two drivers.
