A 45-year-old man, who had a child by his 16-year-old daughter a year ago, has been arrested by the Police and is due to appear in court on Tuesday for incest.
Laud Ford Mensah, a security officer, who lives with his five daughters at Agbogba in Accra, is said to have sexually assaulted the eldest many times and even continued to do so until she gave birth.
Mensah is in police custody at the Madina Division of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).
Police alleged that upon his arrest on Friday, June 6, Mensah confessed to having sex with his daughter and admitted being the father of her child who is now a year old.
ACP Elizabeth Allandu, Madina Divisional Commander of DVVSU, told the Times on Monday that Mensah, divorced for the past eight years, confined his daughter to their home and did not allow her to talk to people.
She said Mensah named the child Felicia Mensah without the knowledge of his family because he did not want anyone to know about his affair with his daughter.
She said the girl told the police that her father started making advances at her last year and threatened to kill her if she refused to give in to his advances.
She said her father resumed making advances at her later after the child was born but this time she did not give in and reported her ordeal to the Madina police.
