The Ghana High Commission, Belgrave Square office in London, has re-opened following completion of renovation works. The Chancery has thus moved from its other premise at Highgate back to Belgrave Square in central London, a statement issued by the Ghana High Commission to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday said.Vice President Aliu Mahama, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Akwasi Osei-Adjei, inspected the building which is located at the prime ambassadorial enclave, the statement said.In a tour of the building renovated at 1.8 million pounds, the High Commissioner, Mr Annan Cato said, the Mission now had a state of the art security technology built into the old architectural plan compared with its status in 1957 when the building was first leased by the estate to the Government of Ghana. It also conformed to the maintenance agreement with the estate agency.Mr. Akwasi Osei-Adjei endorsed the fact that, most of the decorative items came from Ghana, saying it had been the policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to use the missions to promote Ghanaian businesses. The Vice-President commended the High Commissioner and his staff as well
as the contractors for completing the renovation on time. The statement said last Friday, Mr Cato hosted a cross-section of the Ghanaian media and community leaders in London to a reception and a tour of
the building. He explained to them that it was never the case that the Government had gone bankrupt to the extent that it had sold the property since the condition of its acquisition did not make it likely.Source: GNA
