The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has called off its week -long strike but has expressed disappointment with the conduct of government.
Vice President of NAGRAT Angel Karbornu says government failed to attend a meeting called by the Labour Commission to address their grievances.
The association is protesting poor conditions of service, especially with the operation of their second tier pension scheme.
They are also demanding immediate payment of transfer grants which have been arrears for several months.
After laying down their pens and embarking on demonstration across the country the association is back at the negotiation table following the request by the Labour Commission.
Angel Karbornu expressed disappointment with the failure by the Ghana Education Service as well the Education Ministry to attend the meeting called by the Labour Commission to resolve their grievances.
He said it was only officials of NAGRAT who met with the Labour Commission, Wednesday, a situation which he said the Commission found unfortunate.
According to him, the Commission is even considering a subpoena to have the ministry and the GES officials attend subsequent meetings.
"It is this misbehavior they put up that leads to agitation and industrial action and when things get to a head they create the impression that people are going out of negotiation to embark on strikes," he protested.
He was even unhappy with another unfortunate conduct by the ministry.
"They invited us for a meeting but when they heard that the strike had been called off they indefinately called off the meeting.
"The attitude of the powers that be in resolving this problem is bad.
"Let nobody blame us; let nobody create the impression that we were in negotiation and decided to go on strike," he warned.
"The attitude of the Ministry and the GES does not indicate people who are interested in solving the problem," he stated, adding that NAGRAT is always ready to negotiate with people who are committed to their cause.
