The Madina Divisional Police have apprehended a thief and his accomplice for stealing a church organ belonging to the Madina East SDA Church at Ogbojo, a suburb of Madina.
Speaking to the GNA, the Commander of Accra-North-East Divisional Police Headquarters, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mr. Paul Ayittey said on June 28, the Deacon of Madina East SDA Church, Ogbojo informed the elders and the congregation that thieves had broken into the Church and stolen the church’s organ and public address systems.
He therefore appealed to the members of the church to be on the look out for the culprits.
The Divisional Commander said on July 1, a member of the Church, Mr. Thomas Owusu had information that the organ was with one John Amu Mensah, who was offering it for sale.
The Madina Police was later informed and the man was located and arrested.
During investigations, it was revealed that John Amu Mensah bought the church organ from one Baba Musah.
When the room of Baba Musah was searched, the items found included 97 plastic chairs, 11 unserviceable mobile phones, two sound systems, eight amplifiers, two public address systems, two Sonny TV sets, one Sanyo TV
set, one paper scanner and one Akai DVD player.
According to Chief Superintendent Paul Ayittey, the suspects had already been arraigned and remanded in police custody.Source: GNA
