Ghana’s John Paintsil has made a £3 million move to fellow English side Fulham, from West ham United, officials of the club have confirmed.
The Black Stars player’s hope for a first team place in West ham was initially dogged with an injury, which kept him out of action for some few weeks.
On his return, Paintsil, was unable to recapture his regular right full back position and started most of the games on the bench.
The former Liberty player made only 7 first team appearances in his two year stint with the Hammers and prefers more playing time, something he could get in Fulham.
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson expressed delight at his new signing.
"John has a versatility that will provide us with more defensive options, which is extremely important to the strength and depth we have in the squad." He told the BBC.
John Paintsil has been a key member of the current Black Stars team, and has not escaped criticism from supporters for his inconsistent performance.
He has however proved his critics wrong with some superlative performances in the ongoing Nations and World Cup qualifier which begun in June.
Having passed his medical, it is expected that Paintsil’s move to Fulham will afford him more playing time, which will inure to the benefit of the Black Stars.
