Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has given his full backing to new coach Milovan Rajevac despite criticism from certain quarters.
The 52-year-old Serbian was named as the coach of the Black Stars on Tuesday amid murmurs over his experience in Africa.
But the former Juventus midfielder says the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has picked the right man for the job.
"It is unfair to criticise the GFA for coach Rajevac's appointment when his records show that he has achieved great things in his career," Appiah told BBC Sport.
"He has coached consistently over the past decade, has turned small clubs into big sides and with the necessary support from all of us he will take us places.
"Serbia is a similar terrain to Africa so the unwarranted criticism can only succeed in breaking our front and kill the vision of building a formidable team.
under the new coach."
Rajevac quit Serbian club FK Borak Cacak on Thursday immediately after leading them to a 1-0 win over Lokomotiv Sofia of Bulgaria in a Uefa Cup qualifier.
He takes over from Frenchman Claude Le Roy, who resigned in May, three months after leading Ghana to a third place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Serbian's first assignment with the Black Stars will be a friendly against Tanzania in Arusha 20 August.
Rajevac first competitive game is a 2010 World Cup qualifier away to Libya on 5 September.
"It is imperative that we show him solidarity so that we succeed in all our missions in his reign as the coach of the Black Stars.
"The team is in good spirit and we want to qualify for the 2010 World Cup and possibly win the 2010 Nations Cup
