Sulley Muntari claimed he had been a victim of play acting by Catania’s Giancomo Tedesco after the Ghanaian was sent off in Inter’s 2-1 win on Saturday night. The Black Stars midfielder who picked up three red cards in his last Serie A season before joining Portsmouth has now picked up his first red card early on his return. But he protested his innocence afterwards insisting he has been undone by the dishonesty of the Catania player. "The referee saw that I lifted my arm and he’s right in that I should not do that, but I was just protecting the ball," he said. “Having said that not even a child would have fallen in such dramatic fashion. He went to the ground as if struck by Mohammed Ali.” Muntari’s manager Jose Mourinho suggested Tedesco’s action would have been punished in England. “The referee has two eyes and two ears and neither of them could see Tedesco behind him. I saw many DVD’s from last season and understood in England Tedesco would be called someone who lacks fair play, whereas in Italy he might be considered intelligent.” Muntari now faces a three game suspension in Serie A.
