Kumasi Asante Kotoko goes into today's CAF Confederation Cup match against Algeria's JSK at full strength and in high hopes.
Kotoko are seeking to defy the established trend in the group to become the first club to gain a point away in Group 2 of the competition.
They pursue this dream with a psychological advantage, having thrashed the North African side 3-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi last Saturday.
Eric Bekoe's double strike in that game, as well as his general predatory credentials, have marked him out as a major threat to the Algerian side in today’s clash, despite the quality of their own N acim Dehouche and Lyes Boukria in midfield.
At their training sessions so far at JSK's First November Stadium in Tizi Ouzu, Kotoko have worked to familiarise themselves with the synthetic field, as well as the flood lights as the game will be played deep into the night.
The game scheduled to start at 8:30 GMT could provide some chance for JSK's band of players involved in the Ramadan fasting to regain some strength before kick-off. The home side expects to capitalise on the pitch and the flood lights, to secure a convincing victory against the porcupine warriors. .
Beyond those matters, on the periphery Kotoko are packed with talents of outstanding quality who have survived tough times in the season, whether in Africa or in Ghana.
Daniel Nii Adjei, goalkeeper Sulemana, Samuel Inkoom, ageless skipper Emmanuel Osei Kuffour and midfield gem, Stephen Oduro, give Coach Bashir Hayford enough confidence that his adventure into the desert zone could be a reality in the end.
