Ghana Bar Association President, Nii Osah Mills, has told Joy FM he has received a text message warning him not to set foot in Kumasi for the association’s National Conference.
And he suspects the distasteful message which he received at about 9:30pm on Thursday, is in connection with comments he made about the trial of the former Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Chief Executive Officer, Tsatsu Tsikata.
On Thursday, Nii Osah Mills had told Joy FM’s Super Morning Show that while the Constitution of Ghana provides that all who are brought before the law deserve fair trial and counsel of their choice, events immediately preceding Tsatsu’s incarceration suggested the trial judge, Justice Henrietta Abban, may have rushed proceedings.
He had said then that although the GBA believed in the independence of the judiciary, “We believe that there is a possibility the principles of fair trial and of the right to counsel may have been breached,” and explained that the association would support Tsatsu’s quest for a fair trial.
Nii Osah Mills explained that upon receiving the threatening message, he sent a text reply to inquire who was behind it but there has not been any response yet.
The text message had also asked him to resign and withdraw his nomination for re-election as the GBA President because he is a disaster.
