Liebherr Mining Company Ghana Limited has paid GH¢800 to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital towards the corrective surgery on Master Kojo Turkson, 10, who is suffering from a defective heart valve.
A representative of the company presented the payment order to Mr R. Harry Reynolds, Group Editorial Manager, saying that it was the company’s modest contribution towards the treatment of Master Turkson, a class 6 pupil.
Mr Reynolds thanked Liebherr for the concern shown for the needy and urged other individuals and organisations to emulate the worthy example.
Master Turkson requires 5,000 Euro for the corrective surgery at the Cardio-thoracic Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
His parents said that they have over the past three years spent all their resources on his treatment; and that they are unable to bear the cost of the surgery.
