Gilbert Nkansah, an 80 year-old native of Koloenu near Hohoe, in the Volta Region, was on Tuesday, gruesomely murdered and dumped near the Global Church junction, a section of Koloenu town.
Inhabitants of the town found the deceased’s body with serious head injuries and a crushed face, in the early hours of Tuesday and lying in a supine position with pieces of wood scattered around it.
Mr Anthony Darkey, Hohoe Divisional Crime Officer, who briefed the Ghana News Agency, said the Police acting on information, found the body of the deceased lying on the street on reaching the scene.
He said preliminary investigation indicated that the deceased must have been murdered elsewhere and the body dumped where it was found, as blood content and traces of struggle were scanty.
Mr Darkey said no arrests had been made of the perpetrators of the heinous crime but Police investigations had been intensified. He appealed to members of the general public to volunteer information that would facilitate the arrest of the culprits.
Meanwhile, the deceased body had been sent to the Hohoe Municipal morgue-awaiting autopsy.Source: GNA
