Kumasi-based King Faisal Babies and Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club are scheduled to play the second leg of a charity match in aid of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Endowment Fund at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday, October 12.
A statement signed by Mr Kwame Frimpong, Public Relations Officer of KATH and issued in Kumasi on Thursday explained that the match forms part of the activities lined up by a Non-Governmental Organisation, “Kome to My Aid International”, to raise funds in aid of the rehabilitation of the old “GEE” blocks.
It said the first of the two-leg match played at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium last week ended 0-1 in favour of King Faisal and that Accra Hearts of Oak has vowed to avenge the defeat to appease their teeming fans.
The statement said soccer fans will pay a flat rate of a GH¢3 for the popular stand and Centre line whilst the VIP tickets will go for GH¢10.
Mr Frimpong added that a curtain raiser match would be played between the official football team of KATH led by Dr. Ankobeah the Obstetric and Gynaecology Directorate and a football team from a Kumasi-based FM station.
He urged members of staff and the public to fully patronize the game to help raise the needed resources to improve the state of the wards and other ancillary facilities in the old wings of the “GEE” blocks.
“It is the hope of the organizers that it can count on the support of soccer fans and members of the public to ensure the success of the fund raising event”, it noted.
