Kumasi Asante Kotoko host rivals Ashantigold on November 16, in a friendly match to foster good relationship ahead of this year’s premier league.The match follows successful negotiations between the two clubs leading to the transfer of Alex Asamoah to the porcupine warriors for an undisclosed fee.The two teams have had frosty relationship which has culminated into violent clashes a number of times.However the two teams have agreed to begin this seasons league on a fresh, peaceful, note.A joint statement signed by representatives of the two clubs noted the transfer negotiations took place in an atmosphere of sincerity and openness.“We wish to take this opportunity to inform all supporters of Kotoko and Ashgold that today is the beginning of a fruitful relationship between our two clubs.”
“Ashanti Region boasts of the best clubs in the country and we need to foster a symbiotic relationship in order to maintain the highest standards of professionalism in soccer.” The statement added.
The statement urged supporters of the two clubs to come to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to watch the top quality football ahead of what promises to be an exciting premiership league season.
The match is an opportunity for Kotoko fans to see their former coach, Ralf Zumdick in action against his former side and to unveil new signings for both clubs.
Kotoko have the likes of Louis Quainoo from Tema Youth, Stephen Manu from BA United, Frederick Quayson from Hasaacas and former Hearts of Oak star Louis Agyeman to showcase.
The likes of Habib Mohammed, Nana Arhin Duah, Ransford Cudjoe Asare, Richard Yeboah and a host of others will blaze the trail for Ashantigold.
