A member of the Black Princess Management Committee Alhaji Karim Starman has appealed to parents in the Northern Region not to prevent girls from taking up football as a career on grounds of religion or for fear of health complications.
He said the notion that girls who take up football as a career cannot give birth could not be true since there are many female footballers who have given birth and are still active in the game.
The football administrator said this when he presented 50 footballs to Juvenile and women clubs in the Northern Region as part of his personnel support to help develop the game in the region.
‘’Lets encourage more of our young girls to consider taking football as a career’’, he reiterated.
‘’When we went to Canada some of our girls had scholarship to study and develop their career as well. These girls will return to Ghana and their life will not be the same again there. There is going g to be a great improvement’’.
Alhaji Karim Starman also called on corporate bodies and individuals to compliment government efforts in the region to support and help develop football since the sport has the potential of reducing poverty in the area.
