The events building up to the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 will get underway in Johannesburg from 21 to 24 November 2008, with the highlight of the packed programme being the draw at the Sandton Convention Centre on 22 November.FIFA and the SA Local Organising Committee will use the gathering of the football family to update the media on the progress made in the preparations for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009. Furthermore, detailed reports will be given on the sale of tickets for the FIFA Confederations Cup and also on topics such as safety and security, transportation, energy, IT and telecommunication in the host country.The draw itself will decide the match schedule and composition of the two groups of the eight-team competition to be held from 14 to 28 June 2009, which will feature Brazil, Egypt, Iraq, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, South Africa and the USA.
