To save the dignity of the state institution mandated to check corruption and abuse of public office, CHRAJ Commissioner, Lauretta Lamptey, must resign, says Abdul Kwaku Baako Jnr.
The New Crusading Guide newspaper Editor-in-Chief says the action of Ms Lamptey, who is facing fierce public criticism for spending more than 140,000 dollars of state money on her accommodation, casts a slur on CHRAJ’s image.
The Commissioner has in the last 33 months (November 2011 to August 2014), paid 148,500 dollars as rent for her African Union (AU) Village apartment.
She is currently living at a hotel at a daily rate of 456.25 dollars also at the expense of the state, after rent for the AU Village appartment expired.
Speaking on weekly news analysis programme Newsfile on Joy FM and Multi TV Saturday, a disappointed Kwaku Baako remarked: “stepping aside may help her [Ms Lamptey]”.
According to him, if the CHRAJ Commissioner steps aside voluntarily, it will help to build public confidence in the commission.
“Without her CHRAJ can still operate”, Baako remarked.
