Incumbent National Chairman for National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Kwabena Adjei will this week launch his campaign bid to lead the governing party for the third time in succession.
The governing party will go to congress later this year to elect new officers who will steer its affairs for the next four years.
Popularly called ‘Wayo Wayo’, Dr. Adjei would slug it out with three other experienced politicians who are also vying for the same position.
They are National Coordinator for National Disaster Management Organiser (NADMO) Kofi Portuphy, former Ambassador to Malaysia, Daniel Abodakpi and a former General Secretary of the NDC, Alhaji Hudu Yahya.
But Dr. Adjei who is a former Parliamentarian and a former Minister for Food and Agriculture in the erstwhile "Rawlings regime", believes he is better placed to head the administration of the NDC after leading the party to two successive electoral victories in 2008 and 2012.
His campaign launch will take place at 11am on Wednesday October 8, at the Kama Conference Centre in Accra, Myjoyonline.com has learnt.
The NDC is a social democratic political party in Ghana. Internationally, the NDC is a member of the Socialist International.
