President John Evans Atta Mills on Thursday lauded the Ghana-India relations and commended the rising level of Indian investment in Ghana.He traced the good relations between the two countries dating back to more than 50 years in Ghana's pre-independence era, reiterating the strengthening of ties to adopt initiatives for the mutual benefit of the two countries.The President made the observation, when Mr Anand Sharma, India's Minister for External Affairs led a four-member delegation to deliver a special message from the Indian Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Sigh, at the Castle.President Atta Mills mentioned, in particular, the grant from the Indian Government for the construction of the Jubilee House, and said Indo-Ghanaian ties had to be strengthened in the spirit of South-South co-operation.Mr. Sharma extended a message of congratulations from the Indian Prime Minister to President Atta Mills on his assumption of the office of President and Ghanaians for successfully going through the elections.He spoke of the friendly ties between the nations, dating back to the time of India first Prime Minister Nehru, as well as within the context of multilateral institutions such as the United Nations.Mr. Sharma also noted Indian assistance to Ghana, and cited the Kofi Annan International Centre for ICT, to meet Ghana's economic and technical challenges.Source: GNA
