The National Democratic Congress (NDC) national and regional executive elections slated for later this month may be delayed longer than expected.
This is because lawyers in a suit, where national executives of the party have been accused of overstaying their mandate, have themselves engaged in hot legal arguments over whether lawyer for the defendant (NDC) has the legal right to defend the party in the ongoing case.
Lawyers for the plaintiff Felix Datwomor raised queries over the absence of the registration number of lawyer Samuel Cudjoe's chamber on all the applications filed in court.
He argued that until the right thing is done, council for the NDC cannot defend the party in court.
This raised a heated legal argument between him and lawyer Nana Kwasi Boaitey, council who stood in for the NDC.
Luv News’ Erastus Asare Donkor told Joy FM’s Francisca Kakra Forson the Kumasi High Court has set October 14 to rule on the challenge before they begin hearing the substantive case.
Council for the two parties have accused each other of unduly delaying the process, Erastus said.
