Nominee for Attorney General and Minister of Justice Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu said her wealth of experience both in the international and local arena would be brought to bear on her new portfoilio if confirmed by parliament.
Having served as Legal and Constitutional Affairs Director at the Commonwealth Secretariat and 25 years at the Ministry of Justice, Mrs Iddrisu said she was under no illusions at all the challenges that confront the sector.
She told Joy News her immediate task would be to initiate moves to separate the Attorney General’s department from that of the Ministry of Justice.
That she said would be in fulfilment of one of the many campaign promises.
She indicated her administration would also seek to strengthen the institutions which administer justice in the country and ensure the rule of law operates without any interference.
She also promised to be gender sensitive in running the sector.
Meanwhile, Haruna Iddrisu, nominee for Minister of Communications has said there will be sober evaluation of transactions in the previous administration in order to put the ministry on the right pedestal.
He said he is challenged by the nomination and more especially by the demands of the growing communications industry, but was hopeful, he would deliver on the promises of the NDC.
