The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko has said the NPP remains the only source of hope for Ghanaians.
He made the comment at the NPP press conference on Wednesday, which was aimed at preparing the rank and file of the party to vote for a flagbearer on Saturday.
The country has been battling with various economic challenges including the rising budget deficit and high inflation rate among others.
New reports indicate that Ghana’s inflation rate as of September stands at 16.5 percent. This is the highest since December 2009.
Though President Mahama believes Ghana will overcome its economic challenges, the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo Addo is pessimistic about the long-term prospects of Ghana’s economy.
Paul Afoko told party delegates to go into Saturday’s election united, and have in mind that their next flagbearer could be the next president of Ghana.
The Party has faced intense criticism due to internal wrangling within the party.
A press conference held by the NPP in August turned bloody when some party supporters stormed the party’s headquarters with machetes.
The Executive Director of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe also advised the party to stop joking and restrategise, if they want to win power in 2016.
