Twenty-one persons on Monday collected nomination forms to contest the election for the sole slot of membership of the Council of State for the Greater Accra Region.
The process began at 0900 hours at the Greater Accra office of the Electoral Commission on the first of two days of filing of papers.
Mr Joseph A. Hyde, a Chartered Accountant, was the first candidate to arrive at the EC at 1100 hours.
Candidates are expected to fill a proposal form that should be endorsed by a seconder and 20 other registered voters within the particular region.
At the time the GNA left the EC around 1345 hours, Mr Godwin Adjei Quaye, a draughtsman, had submitted his forms.
The Council of State under the 1992 Constitution consists of one person who has previously held the office of Chief Justice, Chief of Defence Staff and Inspector General of Police to be appointed by the President in consultation with Parliament; the President of the National House of Chiefs and one elected representative from each region and 11 other members appointed by the President.
