New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko says President Mahama is not fit to seek re-election given his government's performance in the latest Afrobarometer survey released by the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD).
Out of the 2,400 sampled views, 76 percent blamed the Mahama-led administration of the worsening socio-economic conditions in the country.
The findings also indicated that nearly four in ten Ghanaians are pessimistic about an improvement in the economy.
Commenting on the survey on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, the Akyem Swedru MP said on President Mahama to rescind his decision to seek re-election in 2016 if he has any integrity left.
According to him, the results of the survey are the true reflection of the mismanagement of the economy by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“This government is the most fortunate in Ghana’s history but it has been ineffective in utilizing the over two billion oil revenue meant to improve the living standards of Ghanaians” he bemoaned.
Kennedy Osei Nyarko believes it about time Ghanaians put their interest first and vote for a competent government to rule Ghana.
“It is time Ghanaians start voting based on issues [because] if we elect a leader based on pettiness then will continue to wallow in abject poverty” he stated.
The Akyem Swedru MP said Ghana can development through an “effective and efficient leadership” under the NPP.
Osei Nyarko urged Ghanaians not to be swayed by the propaganda and lies of the failed NDC government.
On the contrary, a communications team member of NDC, Fred Agbenyo said President Mahama cannot solve all of Ghana’s problems.
Though President Mahama is trying his possible best, he said it is not rocket science thus will take time to reflect in the living standards of Ghanaians.
The NDC man described as unfortunate how everything is politicized since economic situation in the country is not peculiar to only Ghana
Fred Agbenyo said government is working assiduously to bring some respite of the citizenry in the shortest possible time.
