Globacom Ghana, sponsors of the Premier League has donated two state-of-the art coaches (buses) to the Ghana National Supporters Union (GHANSU) to facilitate their movement to the various stadia.
The 49-seater coaches branded in the national colours of red-yellow-green and the black star are rich with modern facilities termed as “full option”.
Olabode Opeisitau, Head of the Glo Public Relations Unit, however refused to disclose the cost of the coaches, insisting it was the gesture of his outfit that must reign supreme.
He described the gesture as historic and underlined Ghanaians passion for football as the motivation behind the presentation of the coaches, which would also be used for public transportation.
Glo, Opeisitau believed in the ongoing transformation that Ghana’s football enjoys and highlighted the company’s desire to help nurture the trend by way of providing sponsorship for sports related programmes.
“It is our desire to remain part of that dream and would modestly support every positive initiative towards the growth of sports in the country.”
Abraham Boakye, President of GHANSU, summed up the groups satisfaction when he said: “My joy about today’s event knows no bound. We are exceedingly grateful because Glo has proven to us that their love for Ghana is deep, sincere and true.
“I am very grateful that Glo accepted us and came to our aid when the rest rejected us.”
Boakye said GHANSU would utilise the coaches in a manner which would prove beneficial to their cause.
“I promise we will manage the resources to be accrued from the coaches very well.”
Glo is the headline sponsors of the group that often provide support for all the national teams.
