Former Attorney General Betty Mould-Iddrisu says she will be contesting the Vice Chair position of the National Democratic Congress when nominations open.
She told Joy News in an exclusive interview her aim will be to fight the cause of women and the marginalised in the party.
"I look at it as a challenge and an opportunity coming from my region, the Ashanti Region to represent them at the highest levels of our party's decision making", Betty Mould-Iddrisu said.
Mrs Mould-Iddrisu believes her massive support base and her dedication and commitment to the NDC will facilitate efforts to secure the executive position of the party.
Betty Mould-Iddrisu is Ghana's first female Attorney General and was once tipped to be running mate for late President John Atta Mills's in the 2008 presidential elections.
The former Education Minister said the contest for the NDC Vice Chair will give her the opportunity to show case the grassroots activism and to serve the party.
After months of hold up, the NDC is set to organise regional and national executive elections, ahead of general elections in 2016.
The process had been stalled by an injunction placed on it by a member of the party, Mr Linus Njonolah, who has just recently decided to discontinue the case.
