Poor turnout for the nationwide voters' register exhibition has caused the Electoral Commission to appeal to the public to participate in the ongoing exercise.
Director of Public Relations at the EC, Christian Owusu Parry, told Joy News despite a lot of public education on the exercise, the process has started at a very slow pace.
"We doing a lot [of education] on radio and on television. Apart from that we have people we have engaged -- who we call street-announcers -- driving through communities to sensitise the public", he said to dispel suggestions the Commission may not be doing enough in terms of public education.
Joy News checks at some exhibition centres in Accra confirms the Mr Parry's worry.
Since October 24, 2014 when the process started, the characteristic long queues of people that is associated with the exercise has been missing.
Mr Parry, however, said even if people voted in 2012, it is important that they go and check their names in the voters' register.
"Sometimes when people vote, they assume that because they voted their names will always be in the register", Mr Parry said. He added that it has always been difficult getting people who voted in generals elections to check their names in the register.
Mr. Owusu Parry advised voters to take advantage of the exercise to verify their details since there would be no extension after the process ends in three days.
