Kumasi Asanti Kotoko has parted company with Belgian Coach Maurice Cooreman after mutual agreement.
The decision to sack him comes after string of poor results with Sunday’s defeat to bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak being the final straw.
The coach confirmed his dismissal in an interview with Happy FM on Tuesday.
According to him, his safety in the club was suspect after management confirmed they could no longer guarantee his safety.
Supporters incensed with the 2-1 defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak in week nine of the Glo Premier League, were alleged to have held the coach hostage and demanded his immediate dismissal.
Even though he is bitter with the decision to sack him, Coach Cooreman lauded his relationship with the management.
Kotoko are second on the league table with 15 points but are 7 points adrift of leaders Accra Hearts of Oak who has 22 points.
Assistant Coach Isaac Opeele Boateng is expected to take over and steer affairs until a substantive appointment is made.
