Angry youth have vandalized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party office in the Abuakwa South constituency in the Eastern region.
The youth, suspected to be loyalists of the governing NDC broke into the party’s office situated at Kyebi and destroyed burglar-proof windows, ceilings and walls, as well as portraits and billboards.
It’s unclear what has led to this development.
This comes at a time when the party is preparing to elect regional and national executives after the legal suit had halted the process for over three weeks.
Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP James Abass Abaah confirmed the incident in an interview with Francisca Kakra Forson on the Joy FM Midday news, Thursday, October 30, 2014.
ACP Abaah said one unnamed person has so far been arrested in the case which was reported to his outfit by the Constituency Chairman, Adamu Mohammed.
“It can be confirmed that a number of items have been destroyed … [and] we have just picked up one suspect but the other accomplices are still on the run,” the Deputy Commander said.
