The names of two refereeing officials at the maiden African Nation Championship (CHAN) has been struck out after failing the fitness test ahead of the start of the competition.
Shaaban Ramadan Hamdy of Egypt and Sudanese, Khalafalla Abdel Aziz were unable to pass the mandatory Caf exercise on Friday.
Caf, before the start of every major competition organizes such an exercise for referees to ensure their selected officials are physically fit.
According to Caf, the two are expected to return home while the Referees Committee of the sport body names their replacement.
Sixteen match officials, made up of eight centre referees were selected for the inaugural Championship designed exclusively for footballers playing in their respective domestic leagues.
Ivory Coast is hosting the maiden Championship which kicks off on Sunday involving eight teams.
