President Mills has appointed eleven persons to the Council of State.The action is in line with Article 89(2)(d) of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.The Council of State is a small body of prominent citizens of proven character who advise the President on national issues.This list was read to the press by Presidential Spokesperson Mahama Ayariga at the Castle Osu on Tuesday.The following are the members of the Council of State:1. Mrs. Victoria Addy2. Mrs. Cecilia Johnson3. Prof. Akilakpa Sawyerr4. Prof. Kofi Awoonor5. Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII6. Alhaji Asoma Banda7. Hajara Musa Ali8. Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu9. Nana Akuako Sarpong10. Otumfuo Badu Bonsu XV11. Rev. Nii Amo DarkoThe Council of State is analogous to the Council of Elders in the traditional political system.
