Some members of the Ho Municipal Assembly have threatened to boycott meetings of the assembly unless government intervened to stop attempts to cover up alleged gross financial malfeasance at the assembly.
Mr Vincent Segbedzi, Mr Charles Agbelie, Mr Kofi Bansah and Mr Stephen Adom, assembly members for Bake-Gblefe, Akrofu, Sokode and Loboli told the GNA that there were moves by people in responsible positions to help some accountants and revenue staff implicated to escape sanctions.
They said some of those mentioned to have been involved in siphoning hundreds of Ghana Cedis out of the assembly’s internally generated accounts were interfering with investigations.
According to a report - Report on Investigations into the Internally Generated Revenue of Ho Municipal Assembly - undertaken by a five-member committee, GH¢ 184,301.10 internally generated revenue could not be accounted for.
The report mentioned nine officials of the assembly as having been unable to account for GH¢ 324,973.85.
Other anomalies contained in the report were fraudulent manipulation of figures amounting to GH¢ 9,973.60, fraudulent payment of commissions and mis-posted figures on trial balance.
