The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has dispelled reports in some media quarters about rumours concerning it with Sogakope-based soccer academy, Red Bull Academy.A statement signed by SWAG President, Ackah Anthony, noted that "although it is a well-known fact among serious persons in the media that SWAG Awards winners are chosen by a committee whose nominations are ultimately endorsed by the entire membership, it is baffling that such libelous statements could be churned out by some irresponsible sections of the media."In any case, the 2008 SWAG Awards winners, chosen on the Association’s time-tested criteria, have already been announced."While we see the entire rumour as a wicked fabrication by those irresponsible elements, we wish to leave the case at that and commit ourselves to the protection of our reputation and integrity."Source: GNA
