Vice President John Mahama on Friday appealed to Israel and State of Palestine to work towards preventing the death of innocent persons in their conflict. He said the loss of innocent lives in their long running conflict was a source of worry that both parties must work to overcome.Vice President Mahama said this when he granted audience to the Palestinian Ambassador, Mr Saadi Altumaizim, at the Castle, Osu.Their discussions focused on how to advance peace initiatives between the two nations.Vice President Mahama assured the Palestine envoy that Ghana would continue to lend support to initiatives that would bring about durable peace between the two parties. He said Ghana believes in peaceful co-existence and good neighbourliness and was hopeful that the two countries would work towards a thaw in their relationships.Mr Altumaizi said his country was interested in a comprehensive and lasting peace with her neighbour, but that had not been possible owing to a number of unresolved issues.Source: GNA
