Ghana have been handed an opportunity to move to the summit of the Group D 2010 Nations Cup/World Cup qualifying table after Sudan drew one-all with Mali on Saturday.
The Nile Crocodiles playing at home were left shocked by the Eagles of Mali when in-form forward Frederic Kanoute struck first.
The Sevilla marksman found the back of the net on 20 minutes but Sudan reacted four minutes later with the equalizer through Mohammed Tahir.
By this result, the Black Stars will move top of the Group even with a slim win over Benin on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Sudan will play Benin next in Cotonou on 6 June and Mali host Ghana in Bamako.
