The Togo Football Federation (TFF) is demanding a GH¢ 40,000 refund of gate proceeds allegedly deducted by the Ghana National Sports Council after the Hawks of Togo stunned the Lions of Cameroon by a lone goal at the Ohene Gyan Stadium in Accra. The Sports Council deducted the amount as payment for the use of the stadium facilities but the TFF is not amused.Togo are serving a match ban for crowd violence and adopted the Ohene-Djan Stadium as their match venue. The match played last Saturday attracted an impressive crowd who chanted in support of their respective teams.Their presence raked in several thousands of cedis forcing the National Sports Council to make their deductions. The Spokesperson of the TFF, Fuseina Djaba who was incensed with the deduction told Joy Sports no such agreements were reached before the match. She argued the TFF on a similar situation used the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium but no payments were demanded. She demanded the invoice which was to serve as evidence that the TFF were supposed to pay for the facility, failing which the Sports Council, she argued, must refund the money. She has vowed to use all appropriate means to get the money refunded.Story by Nathan Gadugah
