Sheikh Amen Bonsu, Deputy National Imam of the Ghana Muslim Mission (GMM), has advised Ghanaian youth to refrain from hard drugs and other behaviours that could destroy their lives. He said negative behaviours and attitudes did not only make people live suspicious, criminal and awkward lives but also reduced their spiritual and human development. Sheikh Bonsu was delivering a sermon after Friday prayers in Kumasi as part of activities to mark Ghana@50 anniversary celebrations. He said there was the need for people not to joke with their lives as human beings but to work hard not only to improve their living standards but also to support the socio-economic development of the country. Sheikh Bonsu, who is also the Managing Director of Amen Scientific Herbal Hospital in Kumasi, urged Muslim parents to give their children quality secular and Islamic education so that they could become useful citizens and contribute to the development of the nation and Islam. He also urged Muslim women to avoid indecent dressing and restrict themselves to the Islamic code of dressing to avoid drawing the religion into disrepute. The Deputy National Chief Imam appealed to Ghanaians to give thanks to the Almighty God for the peaceful co-existence among various religious groups and organizations in the country over the past years.
