Ghana’s Joseph King Kong Agbeko defends his IBF title against Vic “Raging Bull’’ Darchinyan on July 11 in what boxing connoisseurs say is a battle of pure power punchers.
Agbeko (26-1,22 KOs), the New York based Ghanaian, will be making the second defense of the 118-pound crown he won with a seventh-round TKO over Luis Perez in August 2007.
Agbeko has won five major bouts in a row, with the recent being a 12-round decision over William Gonzalez on Dec, 11, 2008.
Darchinyan (32-1, 26 KOs) an Australian based Armenian is brimming with confidence ahead of the clash after impressive victories over Jorge Arce last February and Christian Mijares on November 1, 2008.
In an interview with Joyonline, Ebenezer Noye, Media Manager of the IBF champion said the King Kong is aware of threat posed by his opponent but was sure to tame him.
He called for support and prayers from all Ghanaians ahead of the bout and was confident Joshua King Kong Agbeko will retain the title.
