Former Kotoko coach Bashiru Hayford says he regrets the team's slump in form this season after a successful campaign last year.
Hayford led Kotoko to a 21st League title last year and a bittersweet campaign in the Confederation Cup.
But he was frustrated to quit the club after Belgian trainer Maurice Cooreman was employed to head the technical team in September last year.
Hayford leads Kessben to Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in the Glo Premier League and will be seeking to do a double over the defending champions.
"Sometimes I feel very sorry because I put the team together. They are my boys- I liked them and they liked me," Hayford told Joy Sports.
"Because we had three years projection, I had a vision and I came in when they were playing confederation from a third position.
"I wanted to also play the Confederation Cup to prepare the boys psychologically for Africa," he added.
Being a coach I want to play the Champions League and then there was a bombshell, that coach Bash Hayford has been sacked sheepishly.
"And so it is true that sometimes I become embittered."
