UEFA have revealed that they will decide within the next week whether to discipline Chelsea or any of their players for the outbursts aimed at the referee following the 1-1 draw with Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Several Blues players were seen confronting Norwegian official Tom Henning Ovrebo on the pitch after the final whistle, most notable John Terry, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba.
Ivory Coast international striker Drogba, who told television cameras that the referee was a "f***ing disgrace" and allegedly continued to harass the 42-year-old down the tunnel, has since issued an apology for his actions.
Germany international midfielder Michael Ballack was also seen following and shouting at Ovrebo during the closing stages of the match after he felt his shot at goal hit Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o's arm, but no penalty was awarded.
"With regard to the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg between Chelsea FC and FC Barcelona in London on Wednesday, UEFA has received both the referee's and delegate's report," a statement on UEFA's official website reads.
"UEFA is currently examining those reports, as well as gathering additional evidence. It will decide which action to take in the course of next week."
Meanwhile, UEFA have confirmed that Barcelona have not lodged an appeal against the red card which France international left-back Eric Abidal received for apparently tripping Nicolas Anelka.
"No protest has been received with respect to the red card shown to FC Barcelona player Eric Abidal."
