New Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach, Herbert Addo has attributed his side's 2-1 away victory over Sekondi Eleven Wise to “hard work, determination and discipline” on the part of his charges.
He said that Kotoko has a reservoir of talents both national and international which did not warrant their current position in the league.
Herbert Addo was appointed by the six-member interim management committee set up by the life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after q string of poor results by the defending champions.
Addo scored full marks in his first outing at the Essipong Stadium on Sunday to bring smiles back on the faces of Kotoko fans and is expected to grind yet another result over Tema Youth in mid-week before a cracker against bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
Despite the victory, Coach Herbert Addo maintains there are still some rough edges needing straightening.
“I am not too pleased with the passing game,” he said, adding there is still some more time.
Already keen followers of the Porcupine Warriors are relishing a repeat of the miracle of 1988, when Herbert Addo took over from Malik Jabir at a time the team was eighth on the league table and eventually won the title.
Currently Kotoko are 7th on the table, 15 points adrift of league leaders and rivals Accra Hearts of Oak and may well need a miracle to snatch the title, with a third of matches remaining.
