The Ghana Football Association has denied that the Black Stars have lined up a friendly match with Kenya this month.
The Kenyan FA reported yesterday that the Harambee Stars will play Ghana in a World Cup warm-up match on 16 June. The Black Stars will be playing Sudan on 20 June and they will camp in Kenya ahead of the clash in Omdurman. But the Ghana FA vice president Fred Pappoe says they are only interested in playing a lower division Kenyan club but not the Harambee Stars.“We appreciate the level of enthusiasm from our Kenyan counterparts but the truth is we have not lined-up a friendly with them,” Pappoe told Ghanasoccernet.com.“We are only keen on playing a lower division Kenyan club for a match to keep the sharpness of our players.“We have just played a tough match with Mali and to play another full international match just days before a key World Cup qualifier would be suicidal.
“We don’t want any late injuries and extreme tiredness for our players. We appreciate the efforts of out Kenyan colleagues.”
The Black Stars will fly to Kenya on Saturday to start their preparation for the game against Sudan.Ghana are top of Group D with maximum six points.Source: Ghanasoccernet.com
