Swiss side Basel FC have angrily rubbished claims by Mike Cooke that he initiated the transfer of Samuel Inkoom to the club.
Cooke, the owner of Vibe FM in Accra, has brought a court injunction preventing Asante Kotoko from paying the agent who brokered the deal.
Kotoko dealt with Fifa licensed agent Goran Milovanovic of Virtus International who triggered the transfer, brought the Swiss club to Ghana and also negotiated the deal.
But Cooke claims he had an agreement with Kotoko to transfer the defender to Basel yet the Swiss club insist they don’t know the radio station owner.
“We hereby confirm that the transfer of Samuel Inkoom was handled by the agency Virtus International,” the Chief Operating Officer of Basel FC Barbara Bigle said in a letter to Kotoko.
“Virtus International was represented by its president and Fifa licensed agent Goran Milovanovic.”
Inkoom, who excelled at the Africa Youth Championship in Rwanda earlier this year, was transferred in May for an amount believed to be US$700,000.
The claim by Cooke has negatively surprised the owner of Asante Kotoko as the club has a well-documented file for the transfer of the defender as they dealt all along with Virtus International.
The Vibe FM owner looks to fighting a losing battle after the confirmation from FC Basel which has also been lodged at Fifa by the club.
