The Asankragwa Divisional Police Service in the Wassa Amenfi West District of the Western Region has arrested two suspected armed robbers at Asankragwa, who were travelling to Enchi in the Western North Region.
The suspects; Awuni Akrugu Gawutinpen, 27, a galamsey operator and Seidu Musa, 17, an Okada rider.
Police Chief Superintendent, Nana Kumi, Divisional Commander of the Asankragwa Division who announced this on Tuesday said they acted upon a tip-off.
He said they were told that two guys from Agona Amenfi who were on their way to Enchi had firearms in their possession, which the Police quickly mounted a Check Point on the way.
He said while the police were manning the check point a number of vehicles were stopped including; a taxi cab, which was heading towards Enchi from Asankragua in which they saw two pump action guns.
C/Supt Nana Kumi further explained that the driver of the taxi told the Police he knew nothing about the guns but the suspected robbers admitted they placed them into the car without the driver’s concern.
They were all brought to the Police Station and had since been put in police custody for further investigations.
C/Supt Nana Kumi assured the public that the Division would combat all persons involved in all manner of crimes and bring them to book.
